College can be hard when it comes to leaving behind your home and trying to balance your social life and school work. Fortunately, having roommates can make the transition a lot easier. Here are 15 reasons why having roommates makes your college experience so much better.

1. You all share one collective wardrobe.

When I go out, chances are I am wearing at least one clothing item that isn’t mine.

2. They will be your mom when you need them to be.

Having roommates who leave Muccinex and tea on my desk or write notes informing me to see a doctor is very necessary sometimes.

3. They will prevent you from making terrible life choices.

Sometimes you just need someone to stop you from eating a whole pizza or to prevent you from purchasing over $200-worth of clothes online.

4. They serve as your personal stylist.

Why spend hundreds of dollars at the hair or nail salon when you have roommates willing to paint your nails or style your hair for free?

5. They won't judge how weird you are because chances are they are just as weird

I just hope that the walls of our dorm are sound-proof because random dance parties and singing outbreaks have occurred once or twice.

6. They make grocery runs and errands fun.

I’ve never been happier to run out of fruit snacks or tissues because it means running to Target with my roommates and leaving with way more than we had originally anticipated.

7. Nights in are just as good as nights out with them.

Not only do I have designated friends to go out with, I also have friends to join me for nights of face masks and late-night talks which, in my opinion, are just as fun.

8. You have a designated binge partner.

When one of us turns on Netflix, we all end up migrating to the screen until we’ve watched half a season in one night.

9. You have an unlimited supply of inside jokes.

People probably hate us because of the number of times we burst out laughing in public for no apparent reason.

10. They know how to hype you up.

Roommate compliments are the best kind of compliments.

11. They know your most bizarre habits and still love you.

We literally live with each other 24/7, so there's no hiding anything from them. Luckily, they still choose to love me despite my strange habits.

12. Midnight snacks and pizza orders are never discouraged.

We don’t mind sharing our snacks or ordering pizza for three. If we are getting fat, we are doing it together.

13. They will give you a pep talk when you are feeling down.

College is stressful and life is hard, so luckily I have roommates to boost my confidence every now and then.

14. Or they will mutually join in your misery.

Sometimes it’s just nice knowing that we are all struggling and in pain together, especially during finals week.

15. You are able to grow so much together and learn from each other.

Not only are we tackling life together, but I am also constantly being inspired and growing because of them.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
