Many of us will live with a roommate at some point in our
lives. This experience has its ups and downs, but when your roommate is your
best friend, it’s something special. Here are 12 things you’ll understand if you
live with your best friends.
1. The constant guilt trip to make your friends go out with you
When one of your roommates doesn’t want to come out with the rest, sometimes a guilt trip will do the trick to convince them otherwise. Another common occurrence is encouraging each other’s poor decisions because it makes for great stories. But you always know you’ll have each other’s back if something goes wrong.
2. Being codependent
You don’t know what to do with yourself when you’re alone because you’re around your best friends so often. You never want to do anything by yourself.
3. Having no boundaries
Personal space is nonexistent.
4. Sharing everything
In my opinion, I love this. Don’t have anything to wear? You have multiple closets to choose from.
5. FOMO
The fear of missing out is inevitable when you live with your best friends. If you go home for the weekend and see Snapchat stories of all your friends together, you’ll wish you were there having fun with them.
6. You start using the same language
It’s guaranteed that you’ll begin picking up on each other’s word choices, body language, and mannerisms when you’re around your friends 24/7.
7. You know everyone’s schedules
After living with your roommates you’ll memorize each other’s schedules. You probably track them on "Find My Friends" and wonder why they aren’t home if they aren’t in class.
8. You know too much about each other
There’s almost nothing you don’t know about your roommates. You know what they had for breakfast, you know their aunt’s cousin’s brother’s name and everything in between.
9. You hate being apart
You can’t survive a weekend at home because you miss them so much.
10. You know their high school friends like they’re your own
Your roommates talk about their other friends so often that you feel as if you know them, too. And, they’ve probably heard about you, too.
11. Their problems become your problems
Is your roommate annoyed with someone? You’ll probably become annoyed with that person too. If they’re stressed, you’ll probably get stressed too. You love your roommates so much that you want to help them through their problems as if they were your own.
12. You don’t have to sugarcoat anything
You’re so close that you’re comfortable telling them the truth no matter how brutal it is. Does an outfit look bad? You’ll let them know because you’d want them to tell you, too. If they’re doing something stupid, you’ll tell them.
