It is no secret that Republican Vice President nominee and Indiana Governor, Mike Pence is pro-life. Back in March of 2016, he signed a bill in Indiana that does not allow women to get an abortion if the child is to be born with a disability. Pence calls the bill "House Enrolled Act 1337." That makes sense, but it is not up to Pence to tell a women what she can and cannot do to her body. I understand he is pro-life, everyone has their own opinions.
In the CNN article "Indiana Gov. Mike Pence Signs New Abortion Restrictions Into Law", Bernie Sanders tweeted out, "The decision to have an abortion is for a woman to make not the governor of Indiana." Sanders is right because women have control of their body, not politicians.
Women have worked hard for centuries to get the right to vote, go to war, and so on. Hillary Clinton has famously said that "Human rights are women's rights and women's rights are human rights." Politicians are wrong to sign laws into place that forbid women to get abortions.
In an Los Angeles Times article, "Roe vs. Wade will be Overturned if Donald Trump Wins, Mike Pence Says" Pence is quoted saying, "We'll see Roe v. Wade consigned to the ash heap of history where it belongs." However, if this does occur, it will probably be hard to demolish this law that was made in 1973.
I am not one to get into politics but, I do not want any man or women telling me what to do with my body or that I cannot get an abortion if I do wish to do so. This is the argument: do you as a women (pro-life or pro-choice) want a law that says you cannot do something to be put into place? Or do you wish Roe v. Wade stay in place?
To some people abortion is wrong, and I understand why people feel that way. I will not say whether I am pro-life or pro-choice here, but I will say it is none of my business what people wish to do with their bodies. It does not bother me one bit because why should it? Look at it this way, people get tattoos all the time, what happens if there was a law put into place that forbade people to get tattoos? I do not think people who are tattoo lovers will too happy. They would be furious.
So come November I will not be voting for Trump due to the possibility that Roe v. Wade may somehow be overturned and a basic human right is taken away. However, not voting for Trump does not necessarily mean that my vote will be for Clinton. I do look forward to voting in my first presidential election though.
