What Americans Should Know About Rising Tensions In North Korea

Recent political events in the United States have perhaps over-shadowed international events that may hold more importance. Last week during political nominations here in the United States tensions rose on the Korean peninsula. Unbeknownst to most of the American population North Korea launched at least two missiles, one of which landed in Japan's exclusive economic zone. With no warning from North Korea about these launches tensions have rose significantly over this past week.

Some say that these events may have started when the United States put North Korean leader Kim Jong Un on the sanctions list back in early July of this year. Reasons behind the addition of Kim Jong Un to the sanctions list are a slew of accusations including torture, executions, and worse

After the addition of Kim to the list tensions have been building until the recent actions by the United States. The United States recently put an anti-missile defense system in South Korea. The United States claims to have put the system there for defensive reasons only. However, after this move by the United States Kim Jong Un declared war on America and the American people had NO IDEA!

This year in total North Korea has launched 13 rounds of ballistic missiles and 29 various rockets, according to South Korea's United Nations ambassador Oh Joon. The secretary also says that recent events by Kim Jong Un and North Korea are a "clear and present danger to the security of all countries in the region."

So, in light of all these events why hasn't american media been covering this? Why were the american people not more presently informed? Should we not be aware of threats to our safety? If North Korea is preparing to take action should not the United States people be prepared and informed as well? Over-shadowed by the growing political news in this country America's media has covered the debates, scandals, and political tensions between our major party candidates but they are not covering the growing tensions between the United States and North Korea. This is WRONG!!!

If America is going to hold our ground against North Korea then the american people need to be informed when tensions rise. How can we back up our government and our military if we do not know what they are doing? American media needs to inform the American people!

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
