On April 1st Christians across the nation celebrated the Resurrection of Jesus. Easter is one of the most important Christian holidays and represents so much for the faith. I for one love Easter. I like going to the mass focused on renewal and new life after a long Lent focused on suffering and sacrifice. I like relaxing from whatever I fasted from and the commitments I made in Lent. You will find me enjoying some sweet treats from my Easter basket just like anyone else, but I think sometimes after Easter we forget what Lent was all about, coming closer to Christ.
You don't have to go back to where you were before Lent. You can keep moving closer to God and growing in your faith. If your Lenten promise really made you closer to God, keep doing it! Or if you are going to welcome whatever you gave up back into your life, appreciate it more.
Make some new commitments for the Easter season to better serve and encounter Christ. Maybe you can pray the rosary every night, schedule a regular Confession time, or pick up a service project. Work for what you beleive in and the will God has for you. Encourage your friends and family to do it with you, accountability is a great tool. Also, once you commit you won't need the accountability because you'll want to do whatever is bringing you fulfillment.
Christ suffered for forty days and then experienced one of the most painful deaths in history. He did it all out of love for each and every one of us. Love him back, don't constrict Him to a certain point of the year. Rejoicing in His Resurrection doesn't need to end right after April 1st, and it shouldn't.
Practice an authentic faith. Pray more, receive Sacraments more, talk about God more, go to mass more, study Scripture more. GIVE GOD MORE! He is infinite and when you let Him work in your life and be in every part of it, amazing things will happen. Let your faith be an example for others. Work to praise Him in all you do, live a faith that makes other people want to pursue Him more.
