For the UK, the year in music would undoubtedly point to the massive explosion of the Grime scene thanks to acts like Skepta and Stormzy. Two tastemakers that undoubtedly had a role in pushing the grime scene to the forefront are Marco Del Horno (Bullet Train Records, BBC Radio 1Xtra & Rinse FM host) and Swerve (KISS FM / Dirtee Stank). As a duo known as Riddim Commission, they've championed a blend of grime, garage, and house that not only appeases the club scene, but also manages to introduce new sounds into each genre they dabble in.
Following a grime-heavy hit from the summer, "Dem Tings Dere" Ft. Double E, Riddim Commission are taking it back to the underground with new EP 'Shells,' out now via Bullet Train Records. Closing out the year, Del Horno and Swerve are offering up three original tracks including a collaboration with Sinden on tribal-tinged dance record "Africa," and with Leon Lour on "Beggin'" that has already seen support from BBC Radio 1, Beats 1, Rinse FM. Finally, they close out the record with a classic-meets current house tune "Drop It To The Floor."
Up next, the duo will be preparing for their debut album due out in early 2017. Until more details emerge on that project, tide yourself over with their last release- a remix of Rae Sremmurd's "Black Beatles" here.
