If you don’t have anywhere to go for spring break and are wondering what to do if you’re stuck at home, here is a list of tasks you can take into consideration.

1. Listen to new music

Music is always gonna brighten your day, so why not take time out of your day to click the “related artists” button on Spotify when you’re listening to your favorite artists. Click the “recommendations” button in Apple Music. Listen to that mixtape or EP local bands are selling for $3-$5.

2. Go to the gym

If you or your mom have a gym membership, go to the gym. Going to the gym in the morning cleanses your pallet and refreshes your mind. Mostly, it will motivate you to not just stay in all week and watch Netflix.

3. Be productive

Being productive doesn’t always mean it has to be school related. Being productive can mean to continue staying creative. For example, if you play a sport, play an instrument, wanna improve your calculus skills, etc. Alone time can always spark and inspire the best ideas. There’s never a better time to become better at what you do best.

4. Read a book

Reading can seem like a force for some at times, but reading can really help relax your mind. Read something that will keep your mind working, but still keep you entertained. Regardless of what if it’s the cheesiest romantic novel. Keep your brain active.

5. Spend time with friends you haven’t seen

Being away from college can sometimes keep you far away from those you care and love back at home, so why not take your time to hang out with them.

6. Go to a wine tasting (if 21 and over)

There are plenty of free wine tastings around Providence downtown. Search up some Facebook events around your own town/city and enhance your wine knowledge and tastings.

7. Go to a local show

Places in Providence such as AS220, Fête Music Hall, News Cafe, The Met, Alchemy, Dusk, The Strand (aka Lupo’s Heartbreak Hotel), Machines with Magnets, etc. always hold local shows during the week and weekends. Follow their pages on Facebook and keep up to date to their dates. You can learn about some cool local music this way.

8. Try new food places

Food is the way to the heart and soul. Try a new food or restaurant you’ve heard about.

9. Learn something new, like photography

If you have access to a good camera or just any disposable camera in your reach, learn about photography. There's always time to learn something new.

10. Go to a museum

If you live in Rhode Island, the RISD museum is free on Sundays!

Regardless of what you do over this spring break, be safe, celebrate responsibly, relax, remember to sleep, and keep your mind active.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
