Starting Your Own YouTube Channel Can Be More Rewarding Than You Might Expect

In today’s age, it seems as if there are more YouTube channels, blogs, and websites being created on a daily basis then anyone can count. From those looking for a fun hobby to those hoping to make a small income on the side, everyone has a dream of where they want to take their new project and/or hobby. However, only a few are dedicated enough to really stick to with it for the long haul.

“Having a channel on Youtube is a great way for us to chronicle our work, growth, and journey,” states Jordan Allen, co-founder of YouTube channel Rush Games Entertainment. “One day we will look at back and see how much we’ve grown and developed into the great creators we know we can become.”

Rush Games Entertainment is an aspiring gaming channel found on YouTube, focusing on providing responses and insight to news occurring in the gaming world. Rush Games Entertainment started making content in August of 2015, and through their journey, founders Jordan Allen and Eric Dominguez have picked up many new skills along the way.

“I have learned how to edit audio and video all on my own,” declares Jordan, adding that “Never in my life did I think I would know how to edit videos with cuts, images, b-roll, etc…” Jordan says Rush Games Entertainment tries to practice and utilize new editing techniques with each video. After mastering a new technique, Jordan puts it under his belt and moves onto mastering a new technique. “It’s truly amazing how much I learn from working with a partner like Eric and other creators on the internet,” says Allen.

For motivation as to what keeps Rush Games Entertainment going, Jordan claims that is goes back to his dream of working for an internet media company. “I’ve had my sights locked onto places such as IGN, Gamespot, Polygon for about 3 years now,” Jordan acknowledges. “I take it upon myself to look at the required skills it takes to work for one of these companies, and try to master it.”

In attempts to strengthen their skills, the channel also benefits as a result. Jordan goes on to say that “Every video, banner, logo, art that you see on our channel, was created by Eric and I ourselves. We try to keep everything between us, so when somebody asks, ‘Who made your intro video?’ I can say ‘I did! I didn’t know how to at first, so I did some research and educated myself, and now I know how!’ We put an incredible amount of effort into our channel, ensuring that it has the best sound, visuals, and is purely entertaining!”

While learning these skills and techniques, Jordan and Eric have found victories throughout their journey.

“Eric and I have meet so many awesome people from our work,” claims Jordan. “Our hard work most definitely paid off at the end of the year thanks to Playstation and the Road to Greatness contest. Being sent to Anaheim for Playstation Experience and meeting so many great friends was truly life changing.”

In June of 2016, Jordan and Eric entered PlayStation’s Road To Greatness contest in an attempt to bring a huge PlayStation semi truck filled with gaming stations to their town of Orlando, Florida. After over a month of waiting for the results, Jordan and Eric discovered that they were one of four nationwide winners of the contest. As part of winning the contest, they were sent to the PlayStation Experience in California as mentioned above.

As for advice offered by Jordan on starting your own gaming channel? “It might sound cliche, and if you’ve wanted to start a creative outlet before then you’ve probably heard this, but start it! Most people want to start creating and end up overthinking things and never actually start it! Look back at our very first video, it was just the 2 of us sitting in chairs talking. Very little edits, no direction, long videos, and the lighting was terrible. We knew we had to make changes, but changes take time. Now a year later, we have something that we are proud of and have found success! My advice is to get off your butt, let your passion drive you, and start creating whatever it is you want to create! Your style will find you, but you need to continue to practice your craft.”

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
