Recapping My 20 Hopes For My 20th Year

There are some things I need to add to my list for my 21st year.

Last year, I wrote an article about the things I had hoped to do while I was 20 years old. Some of the things were silly, and others were quite serious. With my birthday being only a week away, I thought it would be interesting to see what I accomplished on my list of things to do.

1. Go one semester without any C's as a final grade - happened.

This actually happened twice, so yay.

2. Get rid of the negative people in my life - kind of happened.

I started to, but not every negative person can be removed.

3. Talk to/spend more time with my family - kind of happened.

There were some family members I got closer to, but not as many as I had hoped. It's a process.

4. Manage my attitude/temper - happened.

I've been more aware of it. When I do start to get angry, I take a breath and take a step back before something bad happens. I do still have my attitude, but it is much better than it was (at least I think so).

5. Go on vacation - happened.

This did happened. I went for an almost two week long vacation which was well worth it.

6. Travel more - happened.

I ended up visiting 5 states that I had never been to. Very cool, and I can't wait to see more.

7. Realize it is okay to put myself before others sometimes - did not happen.

Yeah. It just didn't happen.

8. Learn how to manage money better - happened.

For sure. I saved so much money in the past year, and it was worth it. I'm glad I started to figure out this #adulting thing.

9. Stop eating junk food in the middle of the night - kind of happened.

There were some nights that I caved, but overall, I did pretty well.

10. Learn to be confident - did not happened.

I should have learned, but I didn't.

11. Actually stick to exercising - did not happen.

Oh goodness. I don't think I worked out once this year.

12. Learn to accept/love who I am - did not happened.

There are still a lot of things I wish I could change, and I still have to learn to accept it.

13. Start narrowing down where I want to go for graduate school - kind of happened.

I started looking into them more and what I wanted to do, and what I needed to do to get there, however, I did not pick where I wanted to go just yet.

14. Get a tattoo - did not happened.

It will. Soon.

15. Figure out what a normal sleep schedule is - happened.

This happened for a while. I have a sleep schedule now, but it's not what it should be.

16. Realize that the past is the past - happened.

I have come to terms with my past and have realized I wouldn't be who I am today without it.

17. Learn how to trust people - happened.

I've been less skeptical of others which is great.

18. Successfully watch a Netflix Original - happened.

They have gotten better, so I think I watched two ("The Ranch" and "Big Mouth").

19. Have a political discussion with someone - happened.

This happened a few times, so that's good.

20. Be happy - kind of happened.

2017 was a rough year, so I struggled with it, but it will get better. So here's to next year!

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
