Winter break seems to be the longest and shortest month all in one. It's so nice to have time to sleep, eat great food and visit friends/family but after a few weeks, it's hard not to miss your college life. Once you return to school, the first few days are a blast, then class hits. Here are 10 thoughts that go through every college student's head the first few weeks after the break.

1. Man, I missed this place so much.

The campus, my friends, my room, the freedom, how did I stay away for an entire month. I'm never leaving again.

2. Okay wait, I forgot what it was like to be social 18 hours out of the day.

Did people talk this much last semester? When do people learn to walk on the right side of the sidewalk? Why have I never seen any of these humans before?

3. I miss my homecooked meals already and it's only been one day.

Gross, gross, gross. If only a college student budget paid for a personal chef. Mom, dad, we miss you already.

4. Did this mattress get harder over Christmas?

Maybe if I got rid of my desk I could fit my queen size mattress from home in my room. I wouldn't have anywhere to walk but it's okay.

5. College is SO FUN.

No work, no responsibility, no nothing. It's like the first week of school all over again.

6. Cute boys EVERYWHERE.

Man, I missed this place. Also, there is NO way you guys attended school here last semester.

7. Well, that class just smacked me in the face.

One class in and I'm already drowning. So much for the freedom and no responsibility.

8. How can one human have THIS much homework on day 1?

I wonder if they do this to us on purpose, just to see how much we can take.

9. I may die.

This is going to be an interesting semester, remind me again why I picked these classes?

10. College is such a love-hate relationship but at the end of the day, it's so nice to be back.

We missed you college, it's so nice to be back, even IF the classes kill us.

Winter break is one of the only reasons college students make it through the year with only minimal mental breakdowns. Without that month of nothing, there's no way we could maintain the grades, social life and lack of sleep that we constantly do. Once we return to our respective dorm rooms, the real world sets back in and to be entirely honest, it's a little bittersweet. Here's to another great semester.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
