We have all heard the story of the resurrection of Jesus on the third day, which we have come to know as Easter Sunday. However, have you stopped to contemplate the importance of the resurrection on our salvation?
Without the resurrection, we would not have a mediator to atone for our sins and take on the punishment of our sin (death) for us. Without the resurrection, we would not have confidence that God is always on our side. Most importantly, without the resurrection, our faith in Christ would be rendered pointless.
Paul attests to this in 1 Corinthians 15:12-19, where he says, "For if the dead are not raised, not even Christ has been raised. And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is worthless; you are still in your sins (verses 16-17 CSB)."
What does this mean? Without the resurrection of Christ, we could not be in fellowship with God, because sin can not exist in the presence of righteousness. However, because Christ rose on the third day, we have confidence in our relationship with God, and our sins have been atoned for.
My challenge for readers is to read 1 Corinthians 15:12-19. Evaluate that passage, and even do a little research if you doubt the truth of the resurrection. There are historical evidences found all over, even from historians who do not follow Christianity. It is my hope that you are encouraged with confidence in the resurrection of Christ.
