Last Thursday night as we all know, a shooting broke out during a Dallas protest. Five officers were killed, seven were wounded and two civilians were injured. Protests and rage unfolded across the States in less than 24 hours. Marchers in Atlanta blocked off interstates. Sirens seem to sound their alarms every five minutes. America seems to be on the breach of a civil war, and up until now, I have been speechless. It is time to speak, act, and pray.
So I pray that this will end. This violence, this hatred, this anger.
I pray for the families of every single victim during this time of turmoil. Children are losing their mothers, their fathers, their aunts, their uncles.
I pray for the police officers around the country that they look into themselves and ask if this is their calling. That they always find the courage to do what is just.
I pray that protesters and officers return home safely to their family.
I pray for our leaders, that they may have the knowledge and strength to lead our cities, states and country to the right course.
I pray that we as Americans stand united rather than divided.
I pray Americans will not become blind with hatred, that our hearts will not turn cold.
I pray for our children growing up surrounded by such malice, that they remain innocent for as long as they possibly can.
I pray for a solution to this madness.
I pray that we will not turn to acts of violence, for that will solve nothing.
I pray that our children will be deaf to the teaching of prejudice we are so loudly screaming at them.
I pray for people to share their voices and opinions because every voice counts.
I pray for us to find light in the darkness.
So, I pray for peace.
