Why People Are Mad Regarding The Kobe Bryant and Gayle King Controversy

As the world is grieving the loss of Kobe Bryant, there has been much spoken about his legacy and his history through his forty-one years here. A lot has happened in the last week and many people have been hurt. Let's just put it all on the table: something happened in 2003 between two people. There was a trial and there was evidence from both parties. When the man dies with his child, a few hours after it happens, the media puts the case in the court of public opinion. The people who say they are advocates for survivors weren't thinking of the woman who has said she does not want to speak on the matter. The question asked during this time is this for justice, vindication, or revenge? We know that something happened and it's part of this person's history. Both people have moved on from what had happened 17 years ago. He had since learned from his actions and mistakes and went onto not only be a better person but a better husband, father, and human being.

Then we have the interview this past Wednesday. Journalists have the job to ask the hard hitting questions but they also have the responsibility to go about in professional manner and take account of the sensitivity of the topic. Gayle King asking a personal friend about a past trial was not a smart choice. The world is still grieving a prominent figure that impacted millions of people's lives. There is a time and place to speak on sensitive and very delicate situations. Two weeks after he has died and before he can be buried was not the time. But Gayle and CBS knew this was going to cause controversy and become a media storm.

Now as for the "protect black men" and "disrespecting black women" have been the focus of this whole controversy. Kobe Bryant and Bill Cosby are two different people. Two different cases. This should not give Bill automatic vindication as he sits in prison for a crime he was found guilty. Also you can defend someone without disrespecting them. The white and black media are two different allies and deamenors. Keep the same energy when you see them doing them same disrespectful things. But do you know happened the day this interview came out, Vanessa Bryant was at her daughter's jersey retirement at her school.

Everyone who has been speaking on this matter hasn't stopped and thought "What about Vanessa? What are her and the girls feeling?" This mother is watching her youngest daughter complete milestones that her daddy is not here to see. Not one person in the main focus of this matter was thinking of Vanessa, his wife who is preparing to bury the love of her life and one of her babies. No one has thought of Pam or Joe Bryant who has to bury their only son, his sisters who have to lay their brother to rest, his 17 year old daughter who has stay offline because it's too painful to see videos of her father and sister. That's why we are all mad about this situation.

Don't use this family's grief to push your agenda or narrative and that goes for everyone involved in this situation. What should be done right now is to stop the death threats, take accountablity for what you said in whatever part of this because this has grown into something else. And send your love, condolences, and prayers to the 5 families who lost people they love two weeks ago.

Please send your prayers and condolences to the Bryant family. God Bless

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
