This past weekend, on May 19, 2018, I went to the Taylor Swift Reputation Stadium tour at the Rose Bowl. I have seen her perform four times so far. But this concert left me speechless. Speechless. This is honestly an excuse to go down memory lane so bear with me here.
Taylor Swift was one of the first artists I first started listening to when I was little. She inspired me to be myself and to not let others define who I was becoming. One of my favorite quotes from her is, "Giving up doesn't always mean you're weak sometimes you're just strong enough to let go". She motivated me through her music. She was there as I was growing up and going through heartbreaks and personal problems. As I listened to her music, I related to her on a personal level.
The first ever time I ever saw her in concert was on October 20, 2011, for her Speak Now tour. This was when she was still a country star. I remember being so happy and singing my heart out. She sang her classic hits like "You Belong With Me and "Fifteen". It was one of the best days of my life. This was 7 years ago... damn, look at little Eva.
The second time I saw her in concert was on August 15, 2013, at the Red tour. Red was her first pop album and honestly, it was a shock to me because I've known her as a country artist but I was proud of her for making that change. I still love her even though she is a pop artist.
She sang her popular songs "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" and "I Knew You Were Trouble". This was also the first time I saw Ed Sheeran in concert and he was amazing. This album, for me, was more of a "Boy bye, see you never" type of album and I was all for it.
The third time I saw her was on August 29, 2015, for her 1989 World Tour. The past two concerts were at the Valley View Casino Center, but this one was at Petco Park which meant bigger and better. I was impressed by how much Taylor had changed over the years.
She obviously wasn't the same girl she was back when she released her first album. She grew up and changed for the better. Some of my favorite songs she sang were "Shake It Off" and "Wildest Dreams". This was also the first time I saw Shawn Mendes, and that boy can sing!
Finally, on May 19, 2018, I went to the Reputation tour. I will tell you why I was speechless. Before she released this album, she went MIA. Taylor deleted everything from her social media. And then a few days before the album was released, she posted videos of snakes. She used hater's comments as a way to promote her new album and I applaud her for that.
She made that snake her new brand. Throughout the concert, she had inflatable snakes. It was honestly the best concert I ever been to. My 13-year-old-self was internally screaming. Charli XCX and Camila Cabello performed as well. But what had me more shook was that Taylor surprised us with Troye Sivan and Selena Gomez! Best way to start my summer.
Now you can see that I am a huge Taylor Swift fan. If you were to ask me what my favorite song was I wouldn't know what to say because I love all of them. I really do. I am undecided and I can't pick one. When I'm old, her lyrics will be the only thing I remember (LOL). But now I'm just waiting for the day that I get to meet her...
