“If you’re reading this... Congratulations, you’re alive. If that’s not something to smile about, I don’t know what is.”

This is hands down one of my favorite quotes.

A friend had this quote as her profile picture for the longest time and every time a message from her popped up, I was reminded that I’m alive and I’m well. And for that, I should be smiling because everything else comes after.

So here’s your reminder to smile and be happy because everything will be OK.

About a week or so ago, there was a meme that read “I’m glad it’s February. January has been a long year” and I honestly agree with that. I don’t know about you, but January seemed to drag quite a bit. With the start of the semester and an overwhelming amount of assignments, we’ve all said “I’m going to drop out” at least once a day. But you’ll get through that assignment. You’ll get through that exam.

So here’s your reminder to smile and be happy because everything will be OK.

And if you’re having issues between your family members, friends, significant others, bosses, remember that Valentine’s Day is right around the corner and well, a box of chocolate should do the trick … maybe. But, you’ll get through that conflict.

So here’s your reminder to smile and be happy because everything will be OK.

I’m not trying to belittle anyone’s rough moments, but how many times were you in a dilemma and you thought of the worst case scenario, only to realize that everything turned out OK? How many times did we think the world was going to end (literally and figuratively) but everything turned out OK? Whatever you’re going through right now, remember that upsetting yourself and frowning at others is probably not worth it.

So here’s your reminder to smile and be happy — you’re alive and well, because everything will be OK.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
