As we approach the holiday season, I want to share a reminder with everyone about making the best of the time we have during the holidays.
Every holiday is full of hustle and bustle, running errands, the stress of cleaning the house for holiday parties, and preparing to cook until every ingredient in your house is gone. I know it's very cliche to say "cherish the little things" or "make the most of the time you have with family and friends" but those statements are true.
Now don't get me wrong, I love to shop, bake and decorate for sure! However, there are times where I feel like everything going on around me gets way too overwhelming. I often forget to think about why I'm really doing all of it in the first place. Thanksgiving is something that is not only about getting together to appreciate what we're thankful for, but also to cherish the times we have with each other. The laughs, the stories, and the memories shared among the dinner table is something that I take to heart. These times are ones that need to be appreciated and treasured forever.
Thanksgiving only happens once a year, so make it the best. Complaining about the unimportant things such as; having to visit your annoying cousin, or having to do more dishes than you hoped, is not what should be the topic of the holiday. Taking the time to try to make this year the best year is what's important. When I say "take the time to try to make this year the best", that does not mean spend the most money or cook the most food. That statement means to sit down next to someone you haven't seen in a while and ask how they are, give someone a hug, cook someone a meal out of the kindness of your heart, make someone smile by a simple memory or good deed. Do the little things and you'll love the holidays more than you already do.
To me, the holiday season is suppose to be full of happiness and warmth. Allowing yourself to remember why we do the things we do on the holidays will make it that much more enjoyable. We celebrate the holidays for family, joy, tradition, love, memories, laughter, friends and good times. And hey, that annoying cousin and those dirty dishes can't be too bad. So just think about the good times and remember the little things.
Have a great holiday season and make the best of the time you have.
