Remember to Live in the NOW

You'll regret the things you didn't do while you were young.

Finals are approaching. Of course to make the stress of school worse, teachers have all plotted against students and planned to make everything due on the same day. We play Christmas music and pretend we have no responsibilities until the night before everything is due and we are suddenly pulling an all-nighter and taking our coffee in an IV. Everything seems to be a struggle right now…right? Wrong. Life is just doing its thing, something that many before us have gone through and many after us will experience.

Obviously, the work is important, I mean college isn’t cheap so you want to make sure you put your effort into doing well and learning as much as you can. Hopefully one day you will get the job you want, show that expensive degree off, and handle everything that comes with adulting like a boss. For right now though, remember that college doesn’t last forever. I mean come on, those four years (give or take) will fly by.

I’m only about to finish the first semester of my sophomore year and I am freaking out because I don’t want college to end (Real life? Gross.). In between my panics about not being in college anymore (I know its ridiculous, I’m not even halfway through) I have decided to try my best to make every moment count.

Yes, I am extremely stressed with the amount of work I have to complete before the semester ends, but one day I’ll be experiencing a constant stress about real life, adult stuff. We don’t get to stay young forever, we don’t get to live in the same place as all of our friends forever, going out every night of the weekend will be frowned upon… the things that are normal for us now, as students, won’t be the norm forever.

Want to hear something even more dramatic than college ending? (Yeah sorry, you are reading an article written by a drama queen) We are not alive forever! So, yes, enjoy your youth but also enjoy your life in general. Stress, fear, workloads, whatever, they are a part of life but that does not mean you should let them take over your life.

I am not at all saying don’t do your work or try to succeed, but don’t let the stress rule your life. Relish in your college years. I am a big believer that everything will work out the way it is supposed to. Please, do not let the past consume you or the future distract you.

I know you’re thinking “wow super cliché article.” But hey, guess what?… it’s cliché for a reason. Some people need to hear it or be reminded of it.

So, I’ll say it one more time for the people in the back: Life is short, college doesn’t last forever!

Don’t look to the future so much that you completely miss out on the present. You’ll regret it.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
