Remember This When You're Not Feeling Yourself
Favim

Unfortunately, everyone has experienced a period of time where they just don't feel themselves. You're stuck in this awful funk you wish you could just get out of. When you feel like this you just want to shut everyone and everything out. It really is an awful feeling and you miss the way you were before this cloud came over you. Don't worry you're not alone, plenty of people have felt like this before, whether it was exactly like how you feel, or a little differently.

Sometimes, an event or person can trigger this funk, or sometimes it was nothing at all. In my opinion, when nothing triggered it is the worst type of funk. You just don't understand why you feel the way you do, you have such a great life that's filled with great people. You start to feel even worse thinking you have no reason to feel this way. Let me tell you something, let yourself feel bad for a second. You have to experience the lows to appreciate the highs. While you're waiting for this feeling to be gone, remember you are a good person and don't beat yourself up too hard.

Whether you're going through a funk right now or you experience one in the future, I want you to remember a few things:

It Can't Rain Forever Homie.

You may feel like you'll never get away from this feeling, but I promise you life will test you to make sure you're ready for something amazing to happen. Keep your head up so when something amazing does happen, you can see it.

You Are Loved.

Whether it's family or friends, someone does love you even if you push them away for a little bit. Instead of completely shutting someone out, let them know you just aren't feeling yourself and, you're sorry if you're distant or acting differently. Talk to a friend or family member, they might be able to help you more than you think.

It Might Be A Bad Day, But It's Not A Bad Life.

Your world might feel like it's crumbling underneath you, but a storm always passes. Maybe you need to cry, do it, let it all out. Holding in everything will just make you explode eventually, and it may be harder to come back from that explosion. Life is meant to be crazy and weird, this means bad days are bound to happen, and you just have to deal with it. One day you'll wake up and have a good day. You'll realize this and it will make you smile the widest you have in awhile. Whether your funk last days or weeks, I promise life will throw something good your way, be patient and believe in yourself. The only person who can pull you out of this is yourself, never forget you're stronger than you think you are.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
