"Hope: a feeling of expectation and desire for a certain thing to happen.
2. a feeling of trust.
(v) want something to happen or be the case."
Hope. What comes to your mind when you think of the word hope? Do you think of peace? Love? Expectation? Entitlement? The future? Main question: Do you hope and strive for a better future not just for yourself but also for your loved ones (alive and deceased)?
Hope and faith are two of the most valued, treasurable, and sacred life ideals. In addition, I value these ideals 120% wholeheartedly with my heart and soul. Hope and faith does a great deal in helping us get by. Whether it is being in school, working that typical 9-to-5 full-time dead-end job, globetrotting from place to place, entering into that stage of commitment and marriage, learning to create a stable mental and emotional balance within yourself, or just being a lazy beach bum, certain life transitions serve as the biggest, dramatic, and monumental changes in one's life. Most of all, it helps lead to (hopefully) a better life and future.
Three years ago, prior to transferring schools, I joined an organization on campus called Relay for Life. An organization sponsoring the American Cancer Society, Relay for Life is destined to fund, support, and help those struggling with cancer and fight back (that's the motto). This organization not only runs throughout college campuses nationwide but also nationally as well. With a set mission in helping, investing, and fundraising thousands and millions of dollars into cancer research, Relay for Life serves much more than just a sponsor for the American Cancer Society and other nonprofit organizations. It serves as a time to remember those whom have lost their lives to cancer or are currently fighting this indiscriminate disease.
This organization is incredibly personal to myself not because of the mission it stands for but also my desire to help others and be apart of something special and worthwhile. I relay for those who can't, hope, and a better future. Most of all, a cure for all. Paint the town purple. Do it for love. Do it for Hope. The Glory of God. But most of all, Do it for Those Who Can't.
"Where then is my hope— who can see any hope for me?" Job 17:15
