Narcissist:
[nahr-suh-sist] noun: a person who is overly self-involved, and often vain and selfish.

We all know one. It isn't just the girl who stares at her reflection too much or the one who keeps all of his sports trophies presented in his bedroom. Not the girl who brushes her hair far too often, or the guy who brags about how "swol" he is.

Narcissism may involve being shallow or self-involved, but it means more than that: putting themselves over everything and everyone, especially their loved ones.

To every girl who is feeling lost in a toxic relationship, here are 10 signs that you might be in a relationship with a narcissist.

1. Their charm will lure you in from the beginning

Trust me, they'll look completely normal to you. They'll have charm, wit, and act appropriately affectionate. They'll compliment you, practically make you feel on top of the world.

WARNING: That is manipulation, and they will lure you into their trap.

2. They're materialistic AF

The Rolex? The constant need for the recent trends and styles? Don't trust it! No matter what, DO NOT GIVE MONEY TO A FOOL LIKE THIS. He'll spend it solely on himself to appear to be something he isn't.

3. Don't expect them to love you - they probably only love what you can do for them

This ties into the previous one, but it's so true! Narcissists will act all lovey-dovey to you, and make you want to spoil them, but in retrospect, they just want the materialistic stuff. They have a sense of entitlement, and they feel it is their "right" to deserve everything they want.

Remember, love don't cost a thing, so test the theory- stop spoiling them and see what happens.

4. Lack of empathy

There is a difference between fake sympathy and empathy, and that's when you spot a narcissist. You could tell them any news, good or bad, and they'll fake emotion to save face. Sometimes, it's like they don't even have a heart at all.

You can't really blame them for being brain-dead, but it does lead to some really hardcore arguments.

5. Making promises they are unable to keep

One key to a relationship is keeping your word, and for narcissists, this is almost impossible. You battle for them to keep their word, but really, all they care about is what makes them happy. They don't care if you're hurt by their lies and unkept promises — as long as they're happy and accounted for, the world keeps moving.

6. Blame shifting

Narcissists do this really awesome thing where they blame everything on to their loved ones so that they're never wrong. If they cheat? "Well, it's your fault for never putting out". If they hurt your feelings? "Well, you should have never expected anything different from me." They're either hero or victim, there's no in-between.

This tactic manipulates you into thinking that you always do wrong, even when they are the one doing wrong in the relationship.

7. Emotional drainage? Yep, that's normal

Do you feel tired all the time? Depressed more than usual? Feeling a little too controlled, and having to constantly walk on eggshells to make your partner happy? All signs of emotional drainage.

8. Grandiose personality

Not saying that having this personality is bad, but it is a sign of a narcissist. They believe that the world revolves around them, and everyone serves to please them. Lol, WRONG. They have to be the center of attention, and if they aren't, all Hell breaks loose.

It's actually 100% absurd and 100% annoying!

9. They constantly need reassurance and validation

It's never the reassurance of validation of the relationship, but more of themselves. They have to constantly be told they are the best, and if you tell them otherwise, they get emotional. If they look good enough, if they're good enough in bed, etc., all signs of an insecure narcissist.

10. They are a master manipulator

All in all, every sign of a narcissist revolves around a master manipulation. From materialistic to blame shifting, it is their goal to manipulate their victim to gain what they want. They will wrap you around their finger, and the second you don't do as they say, they'll drop you — leaving you to feel alone and to blame.

Do not lose yourself to a narcissist.

Narcissism is a huge problem in today's day and age, and if you find yourself in a toxic relationship with a narcissist, please find help. It may not be a "visible" disease, but they are able to ruin your own sanity and mental health.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
