Life can be going great. You love everything in your life and decide to interview for a club or audition for a role in a play. Unexpectedly, you are not selected to be a part of what seems like the one thing you so desperately wanted to be in. I am here to tell you that just because you do not make something you wanted to does not mean that something is wrong with you.
Yes it can be hard to see people you know be in the organization, but it will get better. Mississippi State has over three hundred campus organizations. Not making one could lead you to an organization that years from now you could not imagine not being a part of. Of course it is easy to wallow in self-pity and stay upset; however, you should instead redirect that energy into something positive elsewhere.
Maybe with the free time you have after not making the organization you wanted you could take up a new hobby. Go to the Sanderson! Try new classes that you have never heard of. Never taken barre? Now is the time. Just like with campus organizations, trying out different exercise classes could introduce you to your new favorite thing.
There are many other ways you can deal with rejection. Maybe find new places to just study and relax on campus. Having more places where you feel at peace and can just go and let go of your stress are great! Maybe work on finding more people in your dorm or nearby that you enjoy spending time with. In times where you do not feel one hundred percent, it is great to have people around you for support.
Whatever you choose to do when faced with rejection, do not give up. One no does not mean the next things you choose to go for will be no's as well. However, you will never know if you give up!
