What Is the Importance of Regular Oil Changes?

An aspect of auto maintenance that is simple and very important yet often gets overlooked by many people, regular oil changes to your vehicle can offer more benefits than you probably ever imagined. Should you fail to get regular oil changes, it won't be long until you have a vehicle that is experiencing problems or perhaps won't run at all. To ensure this does not happen, here are some reasons why you should always get regular oil changes.

Cools Your Engine Components

When your engine is running, it gets very, very hot. However, if it gets too hot, various parts of your engine will overheat and become damaged. When you keep fresh oil in your engine, this helps to reduce the amount of friction within your engine, helping to keep everything much cooler and running smoothly.

Improves Fuel Mileage

Unless you like having to stop at a gas station time after time to fill up your vehicle's tank and send more money soaring out of your pocket, you should get regular oil changes so that your vehicle's fuel mileage stays as high as possible. By getting oil changes on a regular schedule, you help your engine to not work nearly as hard as it would if it had worn-out oil.

Guards Against Corrosion

When you visit a car service center to get an oil change, you will learn engine oil acts as a protective natural coating for your engine's components. If oil is not changed regularly, this makes it more likely the engine will get damaged due to moisture, dirt and grime, and unburnt fuel within the engine. Should this happen, you could be staring at thousands of dollars in repairs.

Removes Dirt and Debris

Last but certainly not least, fresh engine oil helps to remove dirt and debris from your engine parts, reducing the chances buildups of grime will begin to form and harm various components. Remember that in addition to your engine getting a dose of fresh oil during a changing, it also receives a new oil filter, which plays a big part in keeping dirt and debris out of your engine. When oil is not changed regularly, your engine will get dirtier and dirtier, leading to unnecessary wear and tear.

Since you have so much money invested in your vehicle, it pays to keep it properly maintained. By spending only a few dollars now and then for an oil change, you'll gain peace of mind and have an engine that purrs like a kitten.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
