I Refuse To Vote For Those Two

My vote matters, but I am not voting.

I Refuse To Vote For Those Two

I am told that my vote matters. I am told that my voice matters. I am told that my opinion matters. But what if I do not want to vote? I am looked down upon, but not voting is voicing my opinion.

This is my first presidential election I am able to vote in and I am majorly disappointed. I basically get to pick between two evils; good old Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton are the two major nominees for the presidential nomination. They each have their pros and cons but either way you are picking one of the evil sides. BOTH candidates are corrupt. BOTH candidates are hiding something. BOTH candidates are liars and hypocrites. So why would I want to vote for either one of them?

Donald Trump claims to be a successful businessman. However he has no political experience, which is worrisome to me. Business and politics are similar but at the same time entirely different. He refuses to release his tax returns. He expects Obama to prove he is an American citizen but does not think he needs to prove he pays taxes? Is that not hypocritical? Instead of explaining and addressing these “important issues” he states that we have them but yet does not elaborate. There are many rumors of sexual assault lingering throughout the media. Instead of refuting his opponent he just states “Wrong.” He also mocks disabled people and has absolutely no filter when he speaks.

Then we have Hillary Clinton. The Clinton’s already have a history of lying back from Bill Clinton. The Clinton’s are already known for their skeletons in their closet. They are known for their manipulation, dishonesty, and corruption. Emails have disappeared and she has also lied. There have been cases where earlier in her life she does not support something but says she does now and always has.

When I look at both candidates I see no good choice. Both have lied and are hiding something. Each opponent has major family issues. Trump and Clinton are going to run this country poorly. Do we really want either one of these two to be the face of the United States of America? Granted, the media has had a lot of influence over the public and able to spin some stories off. Would you want your President hiding and deleting emails? Would you want your President to agree that his daughter is “a piece of ass”? Would you want your President’s family being full of lies, deception, and secrets? Would you want your President to not have any political experience?

These are real questions you have to ask yourself. The nominees know how to use emotional appeal and present themselves in a manner that you may associate with. Look at the facts and what they’re saying carefully. Their arguments may be valid but they are not always true. This is why I am not participating in this election. That is my voice and my opinion, and you cannot change it.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
