The day after Thanksgiving: you feel a couple pounds heavier and ask yourself “why did I eat so much?!” You might feel a little sad and discouraged that you let yourself go on such a holiday. But don’t worry, it’s totally fine to stuff yourself on Thanksgiving, especially when you are surrounded by good food and company. Here are some tips that will help you bounce back!
1. Breakfast!
You should be eating breakfast the next day after Thanksgiving for a variety of reasons. These reasons include it will help control your appetite and hunger throughout the day! You might think “I ate so much yesterday, I shouldn’t be eating breakfast”, but this is false! Eating breakfast will also lessen extra snacking later in the day.
2. Fruits & Vegetables!
You probably ate tons of potatoes, gravy, and turkey over the holiday and didn’t have time to focus on eating your fresh fruits and veggies! It’s time to fill yourself up with veggies and fruits that are high in fibers and low in calories.
3. Drink water.
You’re having fun with your friends and family members and don’t realize how much sugar and alcohol you are drinking. You might even decide to celebrate the day after Thanksgiving with more drinks! It is important to stay hydrated and avoid any unnecessary calories and sugars from drinks. Water is the best way to go!
4. Keep moving!
Get plenty of exercises or just go for a few walks throughout the day. Just make sure you aren’t staying in bed and lounging around. Exercising will aid digestion and help decrease the fat your body is storing.
5. Track your calories!
This may sound like a difficult thing to do, but it is really quite simple. You can easily record what you eat in a day with your phone, laptop, or pen and paper. This way, you are able to keep track of your calorie intake and make sure you are not going overboard, especially after Thanksgiving. You also want to make sure you’re not eating too little.
