"There is a way that appears to be right, but in the end, it leads to death." Proverbs 14:12 NIV

Long ago, before we were born, written scripture warned of the evils constantly plotting against mankind, both seen and unseen. The plagues of this world appear to some as happiness, intrigue, and excitement. Things that must be obtained at any cost. Sins are pleasing to the flesh, appealing to the eye, and boosts the ego with selfish pride. Many are so attracted to the things of this world that they can not choose the gift of eternal life.

"Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God.” Matthew 19:24 NIV
"Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." John 14:6 NIV

We all have the ability to choose this gift: salvation. Free will gives us this option. We were created in the image of God. No, we will never be the same or equal to He who is Alpha and Omega. But, we were afforded the ability to choose for ourselves. Knowledge is available through written word, The Holy Bible. It is easily accessible and free to obtain. So, why do we gamble with our fate? The destiny of our soul?

Lately, I find myself perplexed and repeatedly pondering the previous concept. I am aware that it is not just riches that some cannot give up. It seems as though there is an obsession with death and popularity. The fascinations are played out every day by individuals seeking the thrills and chills from this world. In their boldness, live events are streamed in a sick attempt to achieve viral posts that reach countless viewers with no regard for life and humanity. A new heart wrenching "breaking news" daily flashes with details of tragedy on televisions, radios, and various social media platforms of horrific events. It makes one wonder how is it possible to commit these types of crimes. Where is the sense of guilt, shame, moral? It is evident that the consciousness that would prevent such behavior is none existent.

"People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— " 2 Timothy 3:2-4 NIV

Yet, I am still hopeful, wondering: how can I reach the masses? What can I do to play my part? How can I make it so plain that all understand? Well, I truly believe that the Bible does not need help. Therefore, we must continue to share the message of the good news.

"Anyone who loves their life will lose it, while anyone who hates their life in this world will keep it for eternal life." John 12:25 NIV

There is still hope.

The problem is that we must choose. Remember, a non-decision is a decision. It is not the right decision. Know this: tomorrow is not promised. The concept "I have time" is a crafty lie devised by the enemy. We are not privy to the knowledge of what, how, why, where or when regarding our last day. So, it is imperative that we choose wisely.

"But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars — they will be consigned to the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.” Revelation 21:8 NIV

Finally, I am reminded of the closings of many sermons of Dr. L.W. Howard. In those, he posed the question: "Why would you live in hell then die and have your soul burn in eternal fire?"

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
