Pets can range from dogs, cats, hamsters, lizards, bearded dragons, and snakes, but they all have different effects on different people. One thing is for sure though: when it's your pet, they are the best company you could ever have. College can be stressful for students and it can be nice to have a little distraction sometimes. So, here are 26 reasons why pets should be allowed in college dorms.

Always friendly

Some people may think differently, but when you're the one to raise them, pets can be the most friendly creatures in your life. People change and they come and go all the time, but pets don't.

Bonding

Pets can cause bonding between you and the pet, and even you and the other people in your dorm. Animals are a great way to bring your hall closer together.

Can't pet and cuddle with fish

Fish are great to look at, petting them isn't something that you do. Also in college sometimes you need a pet to cuddle with, but fish just don't cut it.

Dogs like pitbulls can be adopted

There are so many pitbulls that are placed in animal shelters because of the stereotype they are given. Pitbulls are only aggressive if they are raised that way, and being a volunteer at the animal, I know for a fact that they won't sit the pitbull out to be adopted unless they are sure that they are not aggressive.

Everyone loves animals

It's hard to go wrong with animals. Allergies are always a problem, even for me, a strong animal lover. However, there are so many different species of animals that you can have as pets.

Fish aren't that fun

Sorry not sorry, but fish are fun to watch for about 3 minutes. After that very short period of time, you sometimes get bored with them. I would rather have an active pet that I can actually touch.

Golden friends

Pets don't betray you like people can. If you treat them right, then they'll treat you right. Nothing like people.

Quick to comfort in times of need

Pets are more likely to be there to comfort you in times of need than people. When you're stressed or you just failed an important test, people can't do much comforting, but pets can. Sometimes people can be awkward or they'll say the wrong things at the wrong time. Pets, however, don't say anything at all. They just love.

Responsibility

College is all about learning how to be responsible on your own right? Well, pets are a HUGE responsibility so they are the answer. Work from your classes is like having a job and having pets is something that adults often have, so having at least one pet gives you the opportunity to see what it's like to live like an adult.

Stress-reliever

College=stress. We all know this. So why are we forced to just deal with it rather than relieving our stress in the most efficient way? Pets are the answer to everything and they can they be the answer to our stress.

Trustworthy

Pets will not spill your secrets. They won't start rumors about you. Also, they're always honest (HONOR CODE).

Understanding

Pets sympathize with you. They understand your pain.

Variety of people=variety of pets

With all of the different types of people in college, could you imagine the variety of pets that would be in each dorm?

WE NEED COMFORT AND COMPANY

Do I really need to say anything else?

Xams are stressful

I cheated with this one but I couldn't think of anything for 'x'. But if you think about it exams are one of the most stressful parts of college, so once again, pets are great stress relievers.

You can help pets

Pets need love and they have love to give. So please adopt pets because they need someone to love them, especially after their past experiences.

Zzzs are better with animals to cuddle

Honestly, who doesn't like to cuddle with animals?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
