California is such a beautiful place. There's the Hollywood Sign, the Walk of Fame, and the San Diego Zoo. The weather is always beautiful and you can always go to the pool. My mother recently moved over there and she absolutely loves it! So because of that, I had the pleasure of visiting San Diego, California this summer for one month and let me tell you, I am not a California girl.

1. Not into hot weather all the time.

Its absolutely boiling hot in Cali. There is not one day where the sun is not out beating on you. If you get hot easily, I do not recommend living in California because you will be a walking bucket of sweat just like I was.

2. I do not look good in shorts.

Like many people, I'm insecure about my body. Summer clothes are usually revealing and complicated especially for girls. Hoodies and jeans are my go to and in Cali you would die from heat exhaustion if you tried to wear that on a casual day.

3. You're at least ten minutes away by car from the nearest store.

In Rhode Island, you can walk outside and there's a store ten minutes away, walking distance. A big con about living in California is that if you run out of milk, you have to drive at least ten minutes to the nearest gas station. It's tiring living so far away from essentials especially because you're spending so much money on gas. Also, on top of that, there is always traffic.

4. There is no Dunkin Donuts.

No I am not kidding, I came across one single Dunkin' Donuts store while I was in California however, they do have a Starbucks on almost every corner. Starbucks confuses the hell out of me so I would rather stick with my New England self and have my Dunkin'.

5. It's always so sunny.

I hate sunglasses. The sun is out everyday and not only is it hot but it is so bright. It may be beautiful sometimes seeing that big, bright, yellow sun but it is so difficult to live with the sun constantly in your eyes.

6. It never rains.

There was one occasion while I was in California that it sprinkled. I love rain. It's calming, soothing, and beautiful. Rain waters our plants and keeps things cool. Having no rain in California means it's always dry. I would much rather enjoy my Rhode Island rain.

7. The tap water isn't safe to drink.

The tap water in California is unsafe. In Rhode Island, you can just grab a cup of water from the tap with no problem. If you do that in California, you can get seriously sick. The water seems clean and clear but has unknown chemicals that are unsafe for consumption. The amount of money you have to spend just for safe drinking water in Cali is extremely high.

8. The cost of living is high.

Everything is more expensive. The food, the gas, and the clothing are all more expensive in Cali. Even the rent is more expensive over there. I guess that's why all of the celebrities live there.

9. Supermarkets are organic.

The food in California's supermarkets are all different, more organic brands. There is definitely a difference in price as well as quality. Also, it's hard for a Latin American family to purchase the food we are used to cooking with such as spices and meats. If you are of a different nationality, it is hard finding food from your country that you may have grown up on.

10. Flip flops are the go to everyday.

I hate feet. Since the weather is so nice, people all over the state wear flip flops. Feet are all around. If you are like me and get weirded out by feet, then California will most likely be a very uncomfortable place for you.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
