Riverdale is the newest show that everyone and their brother (literally, my brother and I are obsessed) has been raving about. If you grew up reading the "Archie and Friends" comics in the Sunday paper, then the characters of this show will seem familiar to you. From fiery redhead Archie Andrews to goody-two-shoes Betty Cooper, each character is given a new light in the CW spinoff. Here are 11 more reasons to watch Riverdale ASAP:

1. Jughead Jones

Everyone's favorite heartthrob is definitely Jughead Jones, not just because he's played by Cole Sprouse (the better twin if you ask me). He's a gloomy, closed-in writer that just so happens to be tied in with the infamous gang of Riverdale, the South Side Serpents. So, while he has a big heart and a lot of love for his family and friends, there's also a dark side. Without spoiling too much, it's safe to say that Jughead's storyline is definitely a rollercoaster.

2. Betty Cooper and Veronica Lodge's friendship

The definition of dynamic duo states that it is a powerful pair of people or things. Betty Cooper and Veronica Lodge are nothing short of being a dynamic duo. Although the two are like night and day, they somehow come together to be there for one another no matter what, even after big arguments. Not to mention, the actresses are BFFs IRL!

3. Cheryl Blossom and her signature red lipstick

Cheryl (Bombshell) Blossom is nothing short of the Queen Bee of Riverdale High School. Between having a very powerful family and a personality to match her hair, she makes for a very unique character. While she is typically a powerhouse and stands tall throughout the series, she also shows her inner demons and sensitive side, making the viewers love her even more.

4. The Murder Mystery twist

Everyone loves a good murder mystery -- something that keeps you on the edge of your seat, anxious to see what happens next. Riverdale does just that. Every week, there's a new plot twist that leaves the audience in shock and begging for more (similar to the effect of Grey's Anatomy episodes). Just when everything seems to be okay in Riverdale, another tragedy strikes, leaving the characters feeling lost, helpless, or even dead...

5. Archie Andrews

Another heartthrob to bless the screens of Riverdale viewers is Archie Andrews. He's the second fiery redhead in the series, although he isn't related to Cheryl. Archie is the complete opposite of Jughead (in the beginning), as he's a star athlete, sings and writes music, and loves his family and friends no matter what.

Archie's character development is also one that will shock you as time goes on, but we still love him nonetheless! He's protective, does things for the benefit of others (whether it's something morally good or bad), and never backs down from a fight -- some characteristics of a great guy! No wonder the comics are named after him...

6. Pop's Chock'lit Shoppe

Finally, the heart and soul of the world of Riverdale: Pop's Chock'lit Shoppe. The diner itself is a recreation of an old-fashioned diner from the 50's. There, the characters of Riverdale are often found meeting over the events taking place in their small town. It had been owned by the Tate family and current owner, "Pop" Tate until Lodge Industries (yes, Veronica's family) bought it as a power move. Nonetheless, it's still a well-loved centerpiece of the Riverdale series.

7. The contemporary issues addressed in the show.

One thing I absolutely love about Riverdale is that it doesn't sugar coat uncomfortable contemporary issues. From homosexuality in characters and the process of coming out, to gang violence, to typical high school drama, Riverdale is no stranger to these topics. It's honestly like a breath of fresh air for a popular TV show to address these topics without some sort of backlash.

The producers and writers are recreating some scenarios with characters people have grown to love, making it easier to open our eyes to the issues of the world. Government corruption, rape, and homophobia are too common in today's society to be ignored. Props to the CW and Riverdale for bringing them into the limelight.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
