7 Reasons Pittsburgh Is A Lot Cooler Than Everyone Not From Pittsburgh Thikns

We're nicknamed the Iron City, that's like a superhero name for a city.

7 Reasons Pittsburgh Is A Lot Cooler Than Everyone Not From Pittsburgh Thikns

Whether it's our sports teams, our celebrities, and food. Nothing can compare. Don't believe me? You probably have never been to Pittsburgh.

1. The First Impression

Giphy

There is not another city that has a more memorable entrance than Pittsburgh. You're driving through the tunnel, and as you exit, there it is. It hits you right in the face with the whole skyline, hidden behind Mount Washington. Gets ya every time.

2. The Pittsburgh Penguins

Giphy

The pride and joy for most Pittsburghers. Every year we have a chance to win, and we have some of the best players in the league. In fact, we have THE best player in the world. Sorry to everyone else.

3. Wiz Khalifa

Giphy

What a guy. Wiz loves to acknowledge that he grew up in the Burgh, and everyone here loves him. It's always cool to have superstars from your hometown, but when they constantly talk about it, it makes it way cooler.

4. Primanti Bros.

Giphy

If you've never had a Primantis sandwich before, you're missing out. This is absolute deliciousness that you won't find anywhere else. So if you're ever in the Pittsburgh area, you have to go try Primanti Bros, you won't be disappointed.

5. Kennywood

Giphy

We have our own amusement park right in our backyard. It isn't boring either, there's some pretty intense rides. They are also opening a record breaking roller coaster in a few years called the Steel Curtain. You might want to check it out.

6. PNC Park

Even though the Pirates aren't usually very competitive, going to a game in this stadium is a must before you die. Every year baseball fans say that this is the most beautiful park in the country. It really is. Now only if the Pirates could get there stuff together.

7. The language

Giphy

It's pretty cool to hear true Pittsburghers talk. They say yinz n'at. Head on over to a Steelers game if you really want to hear Pittsburghese in action. It's easy to pick up on a Pittsburgh accent anywhere else in the world. I've always thought it was cool that people in my city can be differentiated from others just by the way they talk.

Pittsburghers love Pittsburgh, and I'm sure it can get a little annoying for other people. But I think that everyone else should love Pittsburgh. This place really is awesome. There are a ton of hidden gems scattered throughout the city that make the city what it is. If you ever get the chance, stop by and go exploring for a day or two. You won't regret it.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
