The options are limitless. Plus, you're required to post articles on Facebook and Twitter. That means the world gets to see your masterpieces every week!

This is kind of delving deeper into the first point, but if you want to write a poem, short story, or anything along those lines, you're free to do that, too! It's a great gateway to unleash your creative side.

I know this is one of my biggest weaknesses. I adore writing across the board, but writer's block gets ahold of me far too often. If you have a deadline every week, you're forced to come up with something. It holds you accountable and makes you work hard to overcome that rut.

Once you join your local community, you interact with so many other amazing content creators. Our group chats for The Odyssey at West Virginia University range from hyping each other's articles up to debating over food or talking about TV shows. Plus, if you're ever stuck on an article or need help with an idea, there's always somebody there to help you.

Unbeknownst to you, you're creating online content that you can put on your resume. Not only does it show your writing capabilities, but if you're posting articles every week, it shows that you can meet deadlines. On top of that, it gives you experience with producing and sharing content online. All of these things are important to put on a resume!
