For semester students, the end of August signifies the beginning of yet another school year full of homework, stress, tests, and all-nighters. It sucks to be the first one of your friends to leave for school, and it certainly sucks to feel the FOMO when the rest of all your hometown friends are hanging out without you. But don't worry, because here are some important reasons why starting school early is actually something to look forward to.
1. Reuniting with school friends
One thing that sucks about college is that the friends you make most likely come from other states or even countries, making it hard to meet up over the summer. As a result, while missing out on chances to stay with old friends, moving in early allows you to reunite with your friends in college. Back to those late night taco runs and boujee brunches we go!
2. There is a whole new set of classes
While a majority of the people would rather have no school whatsoever, the beginning of a new semester means that there is a whole new set of classes to experience. At least for the first week, classes shouldn't be boring. Your brain no longer has to retain any memory of any content from that dinosaurs class you took last semester. There's even a chance that you'll end up bonding with someone in these classes or even bonding with the professor!
3. Freedom
For most students, college is a good distance away from home, which means this is also a chance to feel like an adult again. From cooking your own meals to getting to decide for yourself whether eating a tub of ice cream at 1am is a good idea, going back to college gives you infinite freedom to do whatever you want to do. This is also a time for personal growth, as you're forced to mature and learn about yourself.
4. It's college.
These 4 years in college will be the best 4 years of your life, so why wouldn't you want to go back as early as possible? From free swag from events on campus to obtaining chances to meet famous people through networking events, college brings you the most opportunities possible in a condensed area, and pushes you to explore your interests and explore future options. Only in college will no one judge you for falling asleep while pretending to do work in the grass or chug soylent as a meal replacement for weeks in a row during midterms season. Once you're out in the real world, people aren't so chill anymore. So to all the college students going back to school this week: good luck, have fun, and enjoy!
