While I appreciate coffee for its quick acting effects of providing me with energy, it doesn’t compare to the wonders and healing powers of tea. I remember tea like a childhood friend, someone who is always there for me in my moments of need, giving me the strength to keep fighting the battles of life. If tea is a loyal and trustworthy partner, then coffee is the occasional acquaintance who manages to maintain a “hi-bye” relationship with me. Although it is sometimes comforting to receive that warm “hi” in the hallway, there’s no replacement for the friend who gives you their time and love.
I know many coffee lovers out there will disagree with my subjective statement; However, they can’t argue with the facts mentioned below, objectively placing tea as the #1 beverage.
1. It’s healthier
When it comes to overall health, tea beats coffee by a long shot, as it reduces the risks of having a heart attack, a stroke, osteoporosis, cancer, and it relaxes the digestive system by clearing out any toxins.
2. You're not at risk of addiction
Because tea contains less caffeine, you don't run the risk of becoming addicted to it, allowing you to avoid the painful headaches and energy crashes many coffee consumers deal with on a daily basis.
3. There are a multitude of flavors and types for every occasion
Whether you’re looking for a fruity tea or herbal teas, you’ll never run out of options. There are even certain teas tailored for specific effects, such as “stress reduction teas” or teas that help boost the metabolism for improved weight loss.
4. It both soothes your mind and restores energy
Most teas affect the brain, allowing for there to be an increase in mental awareness and alertness, thereby restoring energy and giving people that little push for the day.
5. It contains antioxidants
Antioxidants are natural substances that prevent or delay the damage of cells, helping to fight against certain types of cancers. Teas are filled with these molecules, granting them a magical power of not only tasting like happiness, but also granting happiness.
6. It helps boost your immune system
Thereby allowing you to fight off common colds. Does coffee protect you from the evil that is coughing and blocked sinuses? I don't think so.
Due to the overwhelming amount of evidence, I, a proud tea connoisseur, can say that tea is in fact superior to coffee. Anyone who dares challenge me on this can refer to the gif below to envision my reaction.
Tea, after all, is a hug in a mug, and I for one take comfort in knowing that my beverage offers me the same love and support I give to it.
