Why would anyone want to suffer through snow?

5 Reasons To Spend Your Winter In Florida

Most people in the United States live in a place where it snows anywhere from two to six months of the year. Lucky for me, I do not have to live in that misery. Florida is by far the best state for many reasons, but especially for the "lack" of winter that occurs. I'll take being warm and having a nice tan over being frozen solid and stuck indoors anytime. Here are a few reasons why all of you northerners who are sick and tired of the ice and cold should feel free to come visit the best state:

1. You don't have to shovel snow.

I don't care who you are, no one enjoys shoveling snow. In Florida you can easily just get in your car and go. There is no need to be ready an hour early to clear the driveway as well as getting all of that pesky ice off of your car!

2. A sweatshirt is the heaviest clothing you need.

In Florida, you do not need a winter coat. I am able to wear the same sweatshirt year round and be perfectly fine. It's rare that it gets cold enough to wear anything heavier and when that happens its already warm again by noon.

3. It's not too cold to be outside.

You can only be outside in the cold and snow for so long. Luckily in Florida you are still able to go to festivals, sporting events, and looking at Christmas lights without freezing to death. There is nothing better than sitting out in the backyard around a fire-pit roasting marshmallows. It's a different feel than your fireplace inside.

4. You don't have to worry about ice on the roads.

When it comes to driving in the cold, Florida is just safer. The roads do not ice over therefore you don't have the same danger of accidents. I cannot even imagine how nerve-wracking it must be to have your car spin on ice and you having no control.

5. "Winter" only lasts a few weeks.

Instead of six months of cold, we have maybe six weeks at most. Once February is over it's nice and warm again just in time for Spring Break! It's not even cold long enough to have a winter wardrobe!

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
