If you are anything like me, you grew up with lots of different family members. One of my favorite family members hands down is my Granny (otherwise known as Amma). She means the world to me and I love doing life with her, even though we only get to see each other a few times a year.

I am in my 20s and I love every single moment I have with my Amma. I enjoy looking back on the memories we have made growing up and she's still herself. She's sometimes a little on the goofy side with her present buying, but she always has a backstory of why she thought the gift caught her eye.

My summers and winter visits with Amma are what I look forward to the most. She's from Michigan, so that's why I don't get to see her very often. But when I do we are always eating some sort of sweet treat (sorry mom). But we do more than just eating sweets, we spend time reminiscing about when I was a little girl and how I loved playing in the basement with the Kooi Kitchen (my cousins will know about this as well).

I love my Amma because she does not care what other people think of her. She says whats on her mind, even if it doesn't make a lick of sense. But that's what makes her my Amma and my cousin's Amma. I don't know what I'd do without her, she's the glue that keeps our family together.

I will always remember my past and recent memories with my Amma. I love that I am still able to have her here with me to talk to, even if she is on social media liking and commenting on all of my posts, she does it with love.

As always, thanks for reading! Do you have a favorite memory or memories with your Amma (Grandma)? I'd love to hear it down below in the comments. Stay tuned for early January because I will be writing about my other grandma, you won't want to miss it!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
