Dorming-- a path I fell in love with the second I walked into my new home. I may have waited until my senior year to live on campus, but better late than never, right? Maybe you've lived on campus since freshman year, or maybe you're new to this whole thing too. One thing's for sure, it's one of the best choices you've made thus far in your young adult years. Here are the reasons I enjoy the dorm life as much as I do:
1. The freedom
As much as I respect abiding by my parents' rules, I adore college for letting me call my own shots. Living away gives me the opportunity to be who I want, say what I want and do what I want openly.
2. The independence
I've been dependent on my family the majority of my life. College lets me apply every parental lecture I've ever received in real life situations. Time to show the world what I can do alone.
3. My roommates
How well you get along with your roommates can make or break your dorming experience. I just so happened to be blessed with the greatest roomies of all.
4. The ability to customize your own space
I took the metaphorical blank canvas of my room, decorated it how I wanted to, and love every ounce of it.
5. The convenience
8 ams aren't the biggest deal when you dorm. I can roll out of bed, grab a waffle from the kitchen and eat it on my two minute walk to class.
6. The environment
There's something about living on campus and being surrounded by so many people daily.
7. The distance
A little space apart from not just family, but also hometown friends can be very beneficial. Distance makes the heart grow fonder.
8. The change
... said college to me, and I couldn't be happier.
9. The lessons
10. The memories
I'm confident I'll look back on my nights spent at college laughing until I'm crying, and reminiscing until I'm wishing I could turn back time and do it all over again.
11. Reasons 1 through 10
Thank you, college, for giving me experiences to remember, friends to love, and moments I'll forever be grateful for.
