Warning: This article is incredibly biased considering I am from the east coast and have lived here all my life. However, I have had some exposure to the West Coast, so I'd like to think I'm semi-qualified to write this post.
It has actual seasons
Every state in the east coast, with the exception of Florida, experiences all four seasons. We get rain in the spring, sun in the summer, semi-chilly winds in the fall, and full-fledged snow in the winter.
The East Coast has New York City
The west coast has no redeeming city- please don't compare LA to NYC. Sure, New York City is filled with trash (literally), but there's something about it that makes it beautiful, regardless.
We have incredible diversity
Sure, the west coast has California, but that's about it. New Jersey, New York, Maryland, Connecticut, Georgia, and Florida are ranked in the top 15 most diverse states in America.
Food comes in all kinds of varieties
Because the east coast has such a diverse population, it also has a multitude of ethnic foods. Almost every town in every state offers some variety of food besides the traditional sub and burger shops.
It is home to the best schools
The east coast offers a variety of top-ranked colleges and universities like every single Ivy League school, as well as outstanding public and private primary and secondary schools.
We have actual history
The east coast is where it all happened; the states in the west coast were some of the latest additions to our country.
If you're planning to move to a different state, consider the east coast region. We have diversity, weather, and THE city.
