There are plenty of people who are poor dancers. Plenty of people we shouldn’t follow in our lives, and plenty of people who choose to see our faults versus our courage.
But, there is one person who when you take His hand, he gracefully teaches you how to walk through life with peace and not fear. Better yet, he doesn’t just walk with you, he dances with you. He chooses to see the beauty and wonder in you before he sees anything else.
In the moments of self-doubt, discouragement, or desperation, take the step and dance with the Lord. Laugh about the next turn he spins you into, embrace the adrenaline rush if he suddenly decides to flip you.
Trust His lead. God will never drop you. In fact, he wishes to carry you with his loving hands.
Dancing with the Lord has allowed me to feel beautiful, cherished, loved, and perfectly peaceful.
1. When I dance with the Lord, I feel beautiful
His eyes are fixed on me, my life, and my heart. He reminds me of his ability to transcend the gifts that he has instilled inside of me, and as we dance he empowers me with a strength to live out my life, bravely.
2. When I dance with the Lord, I feel Cherished
He reminds me of this, “’For I know the plans I have for you, ‘declares the Lord, ‘ plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and future," Jeremiah 29:11.
In this I learn that the Lord does not have a desire to hurt me, to drop me, or to allow me to feel unloved. Instead, he wishes to envelop me in joy, in peace, and in love.
3. When I dance with the Lord, I feel loved
He patiently waited for me to see him extending out his invitation to dance. As I take his hand I am reminded of this, “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:9.
4. When I dance with the Lord, I feel a sense of perfect peace
I am reminded of his word that says “You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.” Isaiah 26:3
I am trusting of the Lord and his lead when we dance. I do not fight or argue, I just follow and have faith that he has me exactly where he wants me. His steps prepare a path for mine to follow upon.
I can't tell you where I am going next, what the name of my next turn or flip with the Lord might be, but I can tell you I will stumble in my steps. And that's okay because I am in the hands of the man who loves me most. He will never let me fall, and he won’t let you fall either.
