Winter break is a blessing and a curse. Being with your family for the holidays, reuniting with your friends, and getting some time to decompress are all relaxing. But a whole month is sure to cause some boredom. At school, you're constantly doing something whether it be homework, going to class, exercising, or hanging with friends.
I am always busy, but sometimes that busy schedule comforts me and sometimes I like to sit on the couch and indulge in a food coma, so this Hannah Montana-esque life has been difficult for me. But I think I've finally decided that it's time for me to go back to Ithaca and I couldn't be more excited for these reasons:
When I come back to school, I will get to reunite with my roommate and my friends who I've missed so much. We all come from different areas on the east coast so it's hard for us to get together. Being back with them, messing around, having the freedom to stay out as late as we want and do whatever we want again will be an amazing feeling.
I missed just hanging out with friends whenever I wanted. I could just walk down the stairs and be with my friends for as long as I want whereas at home friends are all going back to school at different times and not everyone is available all the time.
When I come back to school, my dining card will be reloaded back to $180 Bonus Bucks. Which means I am going to be latte happy for the first two weeks. I finally have the bonus bucks to eat somewhere other than the dining hall again! I imagine the feeling will be riveting. This is probably not a big deal for most people, but I'm an extremely picky eater. I miss getting paninis from Sandela's and two coffees a day; I can only hope I don't spend it all before midterms again!
Though it is extremely cold in Ithaca, I cannot wait to get back to the beautiful area there. My hometown is extremely boring, whereas in Ithaca there is always stuff going on downtown or on campus, and the scenery is just gorgeous. In Ithaca, the snow is like a big blanket, and here, the snow is like a brown and white slushie. Don't get me wrong there are things I adore about my hometown, but something about the Ithaca community is just so warm and inviting.
LATE NIGHT! Because I am a first-year, late night is very important to me. It's the best food on campus, in my opinion, and my friends and I bond over taco Tuesday and contemplating whether we really want soft serve in the middle of the winter or not (we normally always do.) Something about eating breakfast at midnight brings a group of friends together and I can't wait to get back to it.
