In Reality, No One Won The President Debate
NBC News

Believe it or not, I was looking forward to making a contribution to my country and voting in the next election when I turned 18. But that was in 2013, and here we are now in 2016. Today, Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton are the running candidates for the United States of America, with the first Presidential Debate airing on CNN this past Monday. The internet has been overwhelmed with hashtags, news stories, videos, memes, and social media conversations about this debate that drew in over 100M viewers, including myself. I found myself looking through the articles, videos, memes, tweets from this event, and picked up a question that everyone was asking. Who won? Who won the debate last night? Who looked on top, and who did not?

Yeah, I mean, I guess you can say if you choose to that there was an overall "winner" of the debate, but if you actually sit and think about it like I did, there really was no winner. And I say that because the majority of the social media conversations I was witnessing was that the whole debate was less about how these candidates plans, and changes for the future (which involves us), and more trash talk, like a reality show.

And that is something that should be on "The Bachelorette," and not at all be happening when choosing this nation's future leader.

It seems like social media focused more on the conspiracies of the debate. "Why won't Donald Trump release his tax frauds?" "Was Hillary wearing a secret mic during the debate?" And even with this recent sexist comments made by Trump by this Miss. Universe scandal. Yes, people have the right to feel concerned if they want this man for President, and I am one of those people as well. But in all seriousness, where was the American people's concern that Donald Trump gave no explanation of his political plans when asked by Lester Holt? And no matter Hillary's actions, it seemed to please no one because what mattered more was the American flag pin she wasn't wearing at the debate. But, why does that matter?

But how sad of it as a country that we feel forced to choose between one or the other, and that our future leaders are identified as Sexist Trump and Crooked Hillary. WHAT ARE WE DOING AMERICA?! The only thing we can do research on all the candidates plans running for President, because there are more than candidates than just Clinton and Trump, and VOTE! Go find the real facts, people. They're out there.

And if you are over 18 and not registered, go to https://vote.gov/?1!

Your vote really counts!

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
