The day my siblings decided to have children, my life changed forever.
In no time at all, you have become a pro diaper changer, fort enthusiast, and dress up master. In a blink of an eye, these little people have stolen your heart, leaving nothing but fruit snacks and legos behind. This being said, there is nothing more satisfying than becoming an aunt or an uncle.
Here are a few things that come in the job description whilst having nieces and nephews:
You can thank them for your sense of imagination.
The never ending arts and crafts always get the creative juices flowing.
You do not ever want them to grow up.
It was not until I became an aunt that I finally realized all my parents worries for myself. You want your nieces and nephews to never have to see the dangers of the world. You never want them to have their heart broken. You want them to stay cute and innocent forever, even if this means a little bit of smothering and overbearingness in the process.
They are the best form of birth control.
Did you use to want to have ten kids? Think again. Thanks to my nieces and nephews' temper tantrums and seemingly monotonous crying, I know children are nowhere in the near future...maybe not even the far future.
Baby clothes are so much cuter than any other clothes.
These tiny humans who now have your heart, now have control over your wallet as well. Along with baby shoes, baby shoes are the bane of my existence.
There is no better feeling than a baby falling asleep on you.
Their little head on your chest, nothing beats it.
You realize your parents are not just good parents but grandparents as well.
Ugh, they really can do it all.
You have to play hard to get.
You do not want to hold my hand or sit by me? Fine, be that way. They always come back....Well, as soon as they need more Goldfish.
You thought you would be teaching them, but they will end up being the ones that are teaching you.
You may read them books, or you may ask them about animal sounds, but at the end of the day, you will end up learning more from them than you could ever have imagined. These little guys make life so much more worthwhile.
They are the best children ever because at the end of the day you can return them to their parents.
