A Reader's 4 Worst Nightmares

All readers will understand these and acknowledge just how crappy they are.

I'm an avid reader. I love spending my free time reading a new book or rereading one of my favorites. It's great getting lost in an adventure in a new world for a while when my real world has been stressful and busy. However, there are things that I hate as a reader, and I'm sure any other person who loves reading will agree that they are the worst nightmares for a us merry few.

1. Not Having the Sequel

I'm literally having this issue right now. I have the first two books of the series, have already read the first and am reading the second. I was listing it on an app as a book I'm reading and a third book shows up! I now don't want to finish the book because I don't have the sequel. I've gone through reading the first or second book of a series and not have had the next book. Often books will end on a cliffhanger if the author has an idea for a sequel. Sometimes, though, they haven't said anything about there being another book until a couple months or years after the first one is out. In my opinion, it's one of the worst things to happen ever.

2. When a Character Does Something Stupid

Okay, you have a favorite character and you've gotten pretty into the book. You kind of know what this character is like, how they think, so on, and suddenly they start doing something different than what may be normal. You get the feeling they're going to do something stupid. Often times, they do something stupid. For me, when I notice it happening, I literally will repeat 'no' and giggle. Weird, yes, but a reaction I can't stop when I'm in the middle of la-la land in a book. This one isn't as bad, but it's terrible when I start doing that in public.

3. When a Character DIES

You love a character, get attached to them and hope for the best for them. Then BAM! Dead. Or maybe it's not even sudden. Maybe the character dies from a disease that they've fought and thought they had beat it before it came roaring back with a vengeance. (Shout out to The Fault In Our Stars.) This is the worst thing ever. It happens so suddenly sometimes that it makes me just want to throw my book at the all. The ones that has the build up to when the character dies is the worst though because you know it's going to happen but it's just as freaking heartbreaking, if not more so, than when it happens suddenly. I loathe reading books sometimes because of how the characters die.

4. The Book Ends On a Cliffhanger - With No Word of a Sequel

This. Is. The. Worst. Thing. On. Earth. You have an amazing book, it's going swell, the characters are all awesome, the plot line is the bomb dot com, and then the book ends in a way that leaves you with so many questions you're going insane. It goes back to how some authors don't say anything or have anything about having a sequel. It drives me absolutely drives me insane when this happens because I can't stop thinking about the book unless I read a new book.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
