Well, this is it. This is the moment we thought was so far away from the day we graduated high school. The first day of your last day of school (for most of us anyway).
Think back to the morning of your high school graduation. When you stood in the mirror trying to adjust your cap but no matter what, you still looked so ridiculous. You slipped on your shoes or tied your laces and kissed your parents' goodbye as you carpooled to the convention center with your best friends. That day probably seems like it could have been yesterday, but at the same time look at everything that has passed since then.
Don't think about how many friends you've lost, think about how many you've gained. Think about that class you were convinced you were going to fail, but a few all nighters in the library allowed you to pass with a B. Don't think about the nights you fell asleep on the bathroom floor, think about the times you danced until the lights came on and didn't want the night to end.
Look at a picture of you from your first day of classes freshman year and then look at yourself in the mirror. Notice how much you've changed, how much you've grown and how beautiful you still are and always will be.
Wake up a little early on your first day of classes this year. After all, this is the first day of your last year at your favorite place. Don't you want to treasure it? After your last class, meet your friends at your favorite local spot.
You know, the one you used to get turned down from freshman year before you got your hands on a good I.D. or turned 21. Get way too drunk and go home and sleep in your roommate's bed with her, treasure these small moments - because in a year you won't be able to get trashed on a Monday night.
Realize how fast these last three years flew by and make a promise to yourself that you won't let this one get away too soon. Say yes to everything, still keep up with your school work and spend your spare time researching job openings in a city you've always wanted to visit. Today you're the youngest that you are ever going to be, so stop wasting your time and start valuing it.
Soon you'll be working a 9-5 and going to sleep before 10 p.m. You'll meet someone, if you haven't already, and get married and start a family. Soon, these 4 years (the ones you've considered the best 4 years of your life) might not be as easy to remember as you thought. So take too many pictures, back them up to every device you have or maybe even go old school and put them into a photo album.
This is your last year before adulthood, so treasure it. Don't let it get away from you because once senior year is gone, you can never get it back.
