Recently, the much-anticipated movie "Me Before You" was released, and immediately, right after the first trailer was released, it seemed as if everyone on my dorm hall started to read the book. Well, everyone except me.

I normally love to read the book before the movie is released, but when it came to this book, I decided to see the movie first. I heard that the book was incredible, but the movie also looked so cute. I mean, how could a movie not look amazing when the male lead looks like that? Anyway, after putting myself on the list of who gets to read "Me Before You" next, I decided that I did not want to read the book before I saw the movie. I didn’t want to walk into the movie with insanely high expectations from the book and not have them met and I knew that was exactly what would have happened if I had read the book before I saw the movie. When I told one of my coworkers that I was going to see the movie before I read the book, she instantly was like, "What? You can’t do that!" However, hear me out. I have a good reason.

When it comes to Nicholas Sparks' books, I always read them before the movie and I almost always love them! However, when I go to see the movie, I’m always disappointed. I have a hard time agreeing with all of the changes that the movie had when compared to the book or I become annoyed if it was not exactly how I pictured it in my head while reading. For example, "The Last Song" is one of my favorite books. I loved it and I was so excited for the movie. However, when I went to go to see the movie, I hated how they left out the whole story with Blaze because it showed how Ronnie really cared about others. I hated how they left out the scene when Ronnie’s dad boards up the piano because Ronnie did not want him playing it, which showed that Ronnie’s dad was doing anything to please and mend his relationship with his daughter. I hated how they left out who really caused the fire in the church, which showed that Ronnie’s dad and Will were both not to blame. I hated how they left out the fact that Ronnie’s mom had an affair, which showed that Ronnie really should not have been blaming her dad the whole time. I hated how the ending was changed and Ronnie that did not end up going to Julliard. Plus, I honestly didn’t think that Miley Cryus did that great of a job representing Ronnie.

Normally, when I read the book before the movie, I cannot enjoy the movie. I walk out angry and annoyed, which makes sense. In a book, you get so much more attached to the characters and invested in their lives because you have 200 or 300 or 400 pages to do so. That character development is not possible in a two-hour movie. It is also not possible for every single detail in the book to be included in the movie, but that doesn’t mean that I don't still expect it. When it came to "Me Before You," I knew that I didn’t want that to happen, so I went to go see the movie. I loved it and then, the next day, I went to go buy the book. I read the book. I loved the book even more than the movie. I was still annoyed with some of the changes that they made from the book to the movie, but since I read the book after the movie I was still able to enjoy the movie! So, try it. See the movie and then read the book. If you don’t like it, you can always go back to the old fashioned way.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
