When I was in middle school, I definitely had a lot more stamina as far as reading books. In eighth grade, I managed to finish "Les Miserables" in a week. I would be consistently reading at least two different books at a time. If they weren't new books, I'd be rereading books I'd already read.
Since then, the number of books I've read has gone down as my schedule got busier. One of my New Year's resolutions is to read more, so to start off 2018, here are 4 books I'll be reading this month and next.
I'm planning on writing reviews on each of these books as I finish them. Here's my current reading list for January-February.
1. " The Handmaid's Tale" by Margaret Atwood
I'm currently watching the show as I'm reading the book, and so far, both are very powerful and haunting. I can't put it down, but it helps that the Kindle app on my phone. While I'm waiting to get rides to
2. "Warcross" by Marie Lu
Marie Lu is one of my favorite authors, and I love her "Legend" and "The Young Elites" series. "
3. "The Sun Also Rises" by Ernest Hemingway
I visited Hemingway's house in Key West while I was on a training trip over break. I read some of his work in English class in high school and didn't think much of it, but after learning more about how much his personal life influenced the stories he told, I thought I'd give his work another shot.
4. "Phasma" by Delilah S. Dawson
In the most recent "Star Wars" movies, we don't really learn much about Captain Phasma, Gwendoline Christie's intimidating silver stormtrooper character (and after the events of "The Last Jedi" I don't think we ever will). However, it should be interesting to explore Phasma's backstory, even though she's onscreen for less than ten minutes in the movies she appears in.
