For many of us, Netflix is the go-to place for binge-watching TV shows. Every single show that I watch I started on Netflix, and it's amazing to be able to watch shows that aired years ago. However, this makes it all the more devastating when Netflix takes a fan-favorite show or movie off.
For "Doctor Who" fans, February 1 was a devastating day, as the show was taken off of Netflix and the similar streaming site Hulu. Now, those of us who want to watch the popular BBC series have to either spend 50+ dollars on DVDs, or pirate the show.
For fans like me, who are still about halfway through the show, this decision is upsetting (and a sign of our first-world problems). To showcase this, I've compiled a list of my reaction to "Doctor Who" being taken off Netflix, according to my other favorite show, "Supernatural." Here's how the fandom reacted when we found out that catching up with our favorite show was not possible:
1. When it's January 31 and you're not caught up
I spent the last weekend of January sitting in my bed with my computer, trying to watch as many "Doctor Who" episodes as humanly possible. This became a problem when I had to do basic things such as eat or exercise (and don't get me started on homework). However, when the fateful day came around, I was only on season six out of a total of nine seasons.
2. When you see the prices of "Doctor Who" DVD sets
With the show being taken off of all major streaming sites, the only (legal) way you can watch the show now is to buy seasons on DVD. And boy are they expensive. The first season costs about 50-70 dollars on Amazon, and the rest aren't much cheaper.
3. When you realize you can't watch your favorite episodes with the tenth Doctor
Part of the reason I failed to catch up on "Doctor Who" was because about halfway through my bingeing, I realized I needed to get my final fix of David Tennant (when he's not being an evil psychopath) before "Doctor Who" was taken off forever. Now, the only time I can see the Tenth Doctor is in gifs and on Jessica Jones. I suppose I'm lucky though. There are no shows I can find with Matt Smith or Christopher Eccleston.
4. Your current attitude towards the BBC and Netflix
I don't even need to explain this one, I want my favorite show back on Netflix and I'll do what it takes for that to happen.
5. When you see another Doctor Who fan
Whenever I see another TARDIS shirt, or someone mentions to me that they love Doctor Who, I get happy for about a minute and then I get sad. Because that means we're all missing our favorite show together and we aren't getting our Doctor Who fix.
6. When you start to miss Doctor Who
I miss my favorite show. I don't think that needs to be said. Maybe it's just because I'm a fangirl and that's what I do, but I miss being able to watch a man fly through time and space whenever I want. I want it back on Netflix.
