Everyone has certain quotes or as some like to call them, “mantras”, that make their lives a little more bearable. Quotes that they tell themselves in a daily basis just to help get them by. Maybe they’re written on posters in their room, stickers on their laptop or just constantly doodled in their notebooks. Whatever the case, I thought I would take some time to share with you some of my favorites.
1.“She believed she could so she did” - R.S. Grey
I find myself being reminded of this quote every single day. I use it as a reminder that I am capable of anything that I put my mind to. Believing in yourself is the first step to achieving your goals. Sometimes it’ll seem too hard or impossible to accomplish, but you can and you will do it. 9 out of 10 times you don’t do something, it’s because you think you can’t. Well I’m telling you that you can just like I tell myself I can. You need to find the confidence, motivation and perseverance in yourself despite the odds, opinions of others or your circumstances. I believe in you. It’s time for you to believe in yourself.
2. “Just keep swimming” - Dory (Finding Nemo)
Although this one is from a children’s movie, it still holds truth. Life can get you down. Sometimes it doesn’t go right and you rather lay down and die rather than get up and fight. Trust me, I get it. But where does that get you? Setbacks happen. Life gets to the best of us. That doesn’t mean we give up though. It just means we find a different way. Keep going, eventually you’ll find what you’re looking for.
3. “No one can make you feel inferior without your consent.” - Eleanor Roosevelt
You have control of yourself. This means you have control of your emotions, your words and how you handles certain situations. Just because someone looks down on you or makes a rude comment that doesn’t mean you have to believe them or feel that way about yourself. Sure it may hurt and you may resent them for it but their words are not yours. Do not take what they say about you and start thinking there’s any truth behind it. Take those words and prove them wrong. Be who you are with no regard to people who try to knock you down when you’re standing tall.
4. “Everything happens for a reason”
I'm not completely sure the origin of with quote. Some would say this quote could be religion based, but whether you do or not, there’s no denying that the world works in mysterious ways. I may not know what the reasons are at the time of an event, but I know there always is one. We go through things that eventually make us better in the long run. Sometimes it’s hard to see what it’s happening and you have so many questions about why something so awful or confusing could be happening to you, but just wait. Trusting the process can be hard, but if you do, you will be pleasantly surprised with the results. Sometimes putting your faith in the universe makes all the difference.
Simplicity is key when finding your own mantra. You can even adopt one of mine if you would like. Whatever yours is, I hope it guides you, comforts you and makes you be the best you that you can be.
