1. "Things turn out best for the people who make the best of the way things turn out." -John Wooden

As college students, we often don't look on the bright side of things-- this needs to change. According to Hannah Montana, "Life's what you make it, so let's make it rock,"and we all need to listen to the Queen.

Twenty-somethings need to stop sulking in Negative Nancy's house, and start hanging out with Positive Polly. Your attitude is who you surround yourself with, and how you take shots. Even if something sucks, look at the bright side and laugh a little; I promise you will feel better.

2. "You have to accept whatever comes and the only important thing is that you meet it with courage and with the best that you have to give." -Eleanor Roosevelt

Sometimes, things go wrong, and it sucks. But facing challenges head on will, not only make you stronger, but help you grow.

Giving all you have in order to fix something will help you in the long haul-- instead of half-assing something today, and having to fix it in a week; you'll be able to dust off your hands from the problem and move forward in life.

Give it your all, and people will give their all back to you.

3."Whether it's the best of times or the worst of times, it's the only time we've got." -Art Buchwald

This one is my personal favorite. You only have one chance at life, one chance to mess up and fix your mistakes. One chance to LIVE. Eminem says, "You only got one chance, do not miss your shot to blow, this opportunity comes once in a lifetime yo," and you should listen to him.

Take every opportunity you're given, whether you're scared to death or not-- take it. You can only grow from it.

4."Why don't you start believing that no matter what you have or haven't done, that your best days are still out in front of you."-Joel Osteen

Y'all best believe that, at 20, I'm terrified that every single one of my best days is behind me. I'm scared that from here on out, I'll be working a low paying job and not have anymore fun memories-- FYI I'm wrong.

In the future; you'll get married, you'll have kids, you'll make new friends, you'll go on new adventures with those friends, you'll travel, you will laugh. THE FUTURE IS YOURS! OH THE PLACES YOU'LL GO!

5. "I have made the choices that work best for me. I know I cannot please everyone, and that's fine." - Marlee Matlin

Volunteering, donating, working, thinking, doing, helping.. those things are great-- but I hope you're doing them for you. I hope that the things you choose to do, help you learn, and help you grow.

After everyday, when you go home, I hope you can say "I did today, for me." You have to live your life for you. Not for anyone else.

Overall, life is hard and complicated, but life is also fun and fulfilling. Being who you are, and doing what you need to do is essential for living and growing as an individual. People pleasing will only get you so far in life, ignoring your feelings will only get you so far in life, not doing what you want will only get you so far in life.

Find something you're passionate about, find something you want to donate your time to, find something that will allow you to learn and grow.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
