If you’re been walking through your campus’s theatre building or performance center, you’ve probably witnessed one or all four of the following odd behaviors. Don’t worry; we’re just theatre students.
1. Students regularly walk down the hallway, whispering furiously to themselves.
This is probably a student rehearsing a monologue they have to present for their next class, or for an audition that week. Don’t worry, it’s all normal.
2. You see students breaking out into song and dance.
I assure you that theatre programs are NOT the equivalent of Glee, no matter how much fun that might seem (I love Glee, don’t worry). That being said, if someone makes a musical theatre reference (intentional or unintentional) there will probably be singing and dancing involved.
3.Theatre students are ALL OVER each other.
Theatre students are extremely close so if you see students who are closer than they probably should be, just keep going.
4. Students rolling three or four bags down the hallways.
Theatre students, especially those in rehearsals for shows, will probably have a lot of stuff to carry with me. Notebooks, textbooks, scripts, rehearsal clothes, water, food, etc. We’re prepared students but we’re also prepared to not go home for 12+ hours during the day, so we like to be ready.
