Growing up, all I wanted was a puppy. Although I didn’t get the puppy I wanted, instead I got a little brother (sigh)! Some would argue that puppies and brothers are basically the same thing and I would have to agree! One thing is for sure, they both make huge messes and don’t clean up after themselves.
I tried for so long to get my mom to get a puppy, it's all I ever wanted and instead, she tells me she’s pregnant. Oh, man, was I not happy about that news. I was all psyched up because she said she had something to tell me and I thought, "Oh my goodness, yay, I’m finally getting a puppy." She hits me with “You're going to be a big sister.”
Having a little brother has some perks, don’t get me wrong, like having a built-in person to pick on daily. Although a puppy would have been way better because although I guess you could say my little brother is kind of cute, puppies are WAY cuter! My brother is so hard to please sometimes, it kind of reminds me of a newborn puppy that won’t stop whining for its mom.
Don’t even get me started on how they both eat just about anything in sight. My brother's famous line is, “I’m starving, when are we eating.” He could say this right after we just get done having dinner or something. Puppies are the same way although they don’t talk, they just bark instead. They like to eat, you could fill their bowl up with food and they could eat it then they start whining for more food!
I now have to admit that although my parents adopted two beautiful huskies named Demon and Zoey, after 18 years of my life, I finally got my dream puppy - a purebred St. Bernard! He is a lot to handle, having a puppy and a brother is not a good mix. I am quickly going to tell you why it’s not a good mix of them: some days they both get on my last nerve and I just want to scream!
So here is my tip to you: if you are an older sibling and you want a puppy but have a little brother or sister, make sure him or her is house trained before you get a puppy because you don’t want to be picking up double the mess!
