I'm Proud Of You, Grand Junction

It's amazing to see our community come together, especially when we need it the most.

We have come so far as an entire community since the tragedy of two weeks ago.

It is amazing to see every community of our small town, come together in such a time of need. And as a former Tiger, I want to thank everyone personally.

Palisade, it was amazing to see your school pride showing around GJHS. I love the message you shared, and the signatures from students at PHS really had an impact. Thank you for this, us Tigers really needed it.

Fruita, I LOVE YOU. No matter the rivalry, no matter the statistic books, no matter the people, you all really showed your love in this time of need. Please know that we love you, even when our chants at sporting events say otherwise, and that we appreciate you. Whether you're a Tiger or a Wildcat, we are all predators, and will fight this battle together.

To our football team, thank you for continuing your season. I know that must have been one of the hardest things to do, but I want you to know just how important that was. To pick yourself up, travel, and compete for the sport you love, shows just how strong you are.

To Colorado Mesa University, your support throughout this time has been so encouraging. You may not have known the people impacted, but you have impacted us. Thank you for this.

This is SO important right now. Especially with the recent election, our nation seems to be divided, but Grand Junction has still found a way to be good hearted people, and for that I am proud to have grown up there.

Please do not leave people alone right now. We need everyone supporting one another.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
